We got this recipe for an edible flea repellent for dogs from a friend who has been using it successfully for years. After a few weeks of usage on our own dogs we have no more fleas. This edible flea repellent can be used in combination with our topical flea powder.
Here is the Recipe:
Ingredients
Directions
Grind to a powder. Add 2 tbsp Spirulina and mix together. Store in an airtight container.
To use, sprinkle a small amount onto your dog's food using the chart below. Do not overfeed.
Daily Dosage:
Dogs up to 11 lbs = 1/2 tsp
12 lbs - 22 lbs = 1 tsp
23 lbs - 44 lbs = 1.5 tsp
45 lbs - 66 lbs = 2 tsp
67 lbs - 88 lbs = 2.5 tsp
Over 89 lbs = 3 tsp
As with all things, please use your own discernment when using this recipe! And even though pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and Spirulina are excellent additions to your dog's nutrition - they add healthy fats, minerals and vitamins and help with pest control and detoxifying - Brazil nuts might be problematic for your dog since they are very high in fat. If that's the case, just omit them from the recipe. Also make sure that the nuts and seeds you are using are plain (unsalted), mold free and free of any other ingredients (like Xylitol, which is very toxic for dogs).
This recipe is meant for adult dogs, not puppies or breeding dogs.
